Izhmash BIZON

The BIZON Submachine gun was first created by Victor Kalashnikov and Alexey Dragunov in 1993 who were the engineers of IZHMASH JSC which is in Izhevsk, Russia .Another peculiar feature about this gun is that most of its parts can be easily interchangeable with AK 100 series assault rifles.

There are many variations of this submachine gun -BIZON-1, BIZON-2 and BIZON-3.There are different constructions of what is called rear sight and a buttstock depending upon on the requirements of the customers .The rear sight of BIZON-2 is similar to that of Kalashnikov sliding tangent-type and that of BIZON-3 is a a pop-up dioptric rear peep sight having protective ears .The front sight of BIZON-2 and BIZON-3 is derived from AK 74M construction whereas the basic model of BIZON has a front sight similar to that of SVD-the Dragunov sniper rifle which has a protective hood.

The distinguishing features of BIZON Submachine Guns is that they have an outstanding performance as they have high hit probability and they have an enhanced accuracy with high rate of fire of about 650 to 750 rounds per minute .They even have excellent automatic control with variable operational range of fire of about 100-150m. The magazine has a large capacity of upto 64 rounds .They even have an extra option to mount various addons like that of advanced optics, flash hider, silencer etc. Another very important and interesting feature of this gun is that they are very compact envelope measuring 425 mm with buttstock folded and 660 mm with buttstock unfolded that is very useful for safe hiding of the gun and this distinguished feature makes it a priority for the needy .The total length of the BIZON is 660mm that is 26.0inches with the stock unfolded and 425mm that is 16.7inches with the buttstock folded.

BIZON Submachine Gun has a trigger mechanism which is exactly similar to that of AK 74M.Loading is considerably easy compared to other guns as it has a large capacity magazine which is a synthetic 64-type magazine which was copied from the American Calico 960 submachine gun where the same kind of magazine was used first .In some of the models the magazines are attached with a round counter which is very useful for showing how much of ammo is left .The cartridges cannot be loaded incorrectly as all of them should be mount as nose forward direction .The magazine has been recently modified that contains four openings in the right side having the markings 4,24,44.64 which helps to show the number of rounds within the magazine .The BIZON weighs 2.47kg that is almost 5.45 pounds and without the magazine it weighs 2.1kg that is almost 4.6 pounds.

The cyclic rate of BIZON is marked as 650rpm to 700 rpm which makes it a wonderful and very tactic weapon for various missions. The operation of the gun is not very complicated as that of others. For selecting between the modes of firing, it has three position selector levels that are SAFE, SINGLE and FULL AUTO modes .In the SAFE mode the weapon cannot be fired whereas in the SINGLE mode, firing of the weapon can be done in single rounds, but for firing the adjacent round the trigger has to be released and squeezed again .But it is entirely different and more easy in the FULL AUTO mode where the firing from the weapon is as continuous burst of rounds until the trigger is held down.

There are many variations depending upon the calibers .Some of them use 9×18 mm ammo, but other models use such as 9×17 mm and 9×19 mm Parabellum .The 7.62×25 mm ammo is also available.

BIZONS are used by many ;according to the estimation which is taken by the experts, the BIZON SMG is considered to be employed successfully by Anti-terrorist units and Law Enforcement units .It is used here because the contacts of fire are very rapid and very intense compared to other units .Another important feature is that here multiple contacts are to be administered very often and multiple targets are to be met with very short intervals of time with a range which do not exceed 100 meters .It is for these requirements this BIZON Submachine Gun plays a major role by its various salient features.
