FN Special Police Rifle

The FN Special Police sniper rifle is a high quality weapon marketed in the US by FNH USA a subsidiary of the Belgian firm Fabrique Nationale de Herstal. FNH USA now owns USRAC, which used to manufacture Winchester rifles. Hence while designing the FN Special Police sniper rifle, much of the tried and tested pre-1964 Winchester design was incorporated into it especially the control round feed action and bolt and the massive extractor claw. The FN Special Police sniper rifle was designed specifically for law enforcement agencies and is a very reliable weapon. It has a high degree of accuracy (less than 1 MOA at 250 yards) and due to its extraction claw design, ensures a quick follow up shot if required.

The Winchester control round feed action and bolt along with the extractor claw make for a smooth, clean shot. Since the extractor claw is huge and engages at least a fourth of the cartridge rim, it ensures the extraction and ejection of spent cartridges. The control round feed action means that as soon as the cartridge leaves the magazine the base rises up on the bolt face and the rim is captured straight away between the extractor claw and the opposite end of the bolt face. Now the case is completely in the control of the bolt and it is the bolt, which ensures that the case fully enters the chamber. This makes for smoother and reliable feeds each and every time. The 3-position safety lock allows for the operator to block the firing pin while continuing to work the action ensuring that the rifle can be optimally loaded in safety.

The FN SPR features an excellent match grade barrel, which is hammer- forged from a high quality alloy and meets or even surpasses the Mil-Spec criteria in all ways. The bore of the rifle is chrome plated for greater accuracy and to ensure that it lasts longer. Barrels could be either 20 inches or 24 inches, fluted or unfluted, as per requirement and there is also the option of a one-in-twelve twist heavy contour suppressed barrel.

The FN SPR comes with standard McMillan tactical rifle stocks made from high quality magnesium filled fiberglass. The butt stock has an adjustable cheek piece, flush caps and sling stud for the bipod. The receivers are drilled and tapped for mounting screws (oversize 8/40) and a 1 piece steel rail. The McMillan rifle stocks are guaranteed for life.

The rifle is available in total system package and since it is a highly flexible weapon there is a whole load of accessories one can chose from. These include the Leupold 3.5 10 x 40 tactical scope or the Schmidt and Bender 3 12 x 50 PMII or Nightforce 3.5 15 x 50 NP-Mil Dot scope. Scope bases and scope rings of various kinds are an option as well and so are the Harris bipod or FN Parker Hale bipod. It is also shipped with the Eagle industries Hybrid drag bag with scope crown cover, Otis cleaning kit and Storm rifle case.
