HK USP was introduced in the market in the year 1993. The idea behind the development of this pistol was to incorporate many traditional handgun designs in one pistol and take it some what further then by using molded polymer material and by producing a standard pistol for other to follow.
The HK USP uses a Browning link less locked breech action, alike the action developed by John Browning for use in the Browning P35 Hi Power pistol. The HK USP thus can be safely carried as cocked and locked. Though originally HK USP was built for .40 S&W and 9mm Parabellum models, in the coming days due to its popularity the company decided to launch a series of HK USP. Now other than these two models it is available in a .45 ACP variant, .357 SIG and USP Tactical, USP Expert, USP Match, and USP Elite. We would like to have the attention of our visitors towards one of its important feature and that is mechanical recoil reduction system. This system has been put in place into the recoil/buffer spring assembly which is located below the barrel. Though it was designed to buffer the slide and barrel and reduce recoil effects on the pistol components, but also lowers the recoil pressure felt by the handler. The most important point is that HK USP recoil reduction system is not sensitive to bullets types and does not require any adjustment or maintenance. It means that it would function with all the cartridges meant for its grade pistols.
The company HK claims that during the Abuse and function testing of HK USP it was tested for 24,000 rounds fired without any component failure from the same pistol. The term Guns is commonly used as a synonym to firearm, but in military usage the term refers only to artillery that fires shots at high velocity, such as anti-aircraft artillery, field Guns, tank Guns, anti-tank Guns, and naval Guns. There is no need to tell that all the major metal components on HK USP are corrosion proof. Steel slide (outside metal surfaces) are protected by a nitro gas carburized black oxide finish, whereas internal metal parts, including springs, are coated with an anti-corrosion chemical to reduce friction and wear & tear adding to the longevity of the pistol.
HK USP is specially known for the wide variety of the trigger styles available, that can also be changed. There are as much as nine commercially available modifications by HK. The modular approach to the internal components and the control functions makes it possible for the HK USP to be switched from the left to the right side of the pistol for left handed shooters. Also it can be converted from one type of firing mode to another, including double-action and single-action (DA/SA) modes and double-action only (DAO) modes. The HK USP has an magazine release lever (easily used by either hand) guarded by the trigger shield from involuntary use. HK USP grip is designed to provide magazine removal and changing faster. It is worth mentioning here that all HK USP magazines are able drop free from the pistol frame in case the magazine release lever is depressed. Also, the HK USP does not have magazine lockout, and makes it possible to fire a chambered round even with the magazine removed.
