The GLOCK 17L is designed and manufactured in Austria by the GLOCK Company. This longer slide version of the GLOCK 17 is essentially designed to be a competition gun.

The overall length of this gun is neat 8.85 inches with and it weighs 670 grams when empty, this makes it a truly concealable weapon. The features that make it an outstanding competitive gun are the longer slide with a 6-inch barrel, extended magazine release, and the 3.5-pound trigger pull.
The 225 mm slide in the front quarter opens on the top, while the barrel with three slots cut crosswise near the muzzle is angled forward. This effective design idea expels some of the powder gasses upwards, and even helps in holding down the down the muzzle to reduce the flip. The recoil of the 9xl9 cartridge has also been reduced from the earlier GLOCK 17 considerably. Precise shooting is possible because the lighter trigger and longer sight radius
The extended magazine- helps in rapid reloads, while the lighter trigger pull helps in accuracy, features critical in competitive shooting. There are some versions of the GLOCK 17L; the GLOCK 24 is very similar with a modified slide and frame. In addition, it fires the .40 S&W ammunition. The GLOCK 17L however lost the race in USA because of the USPSA restrictions on the 9xl9 cartridge.
