Kel Tec Sub 2000

An interesting little carbine, especially since it can be folded for storage to 16 inches. It gets some looks when you bring it to a range. Manufactured by Kel Tec industries this little rifle is based on their previous Sub 9 rifle, but the main difference is use of polymers to cut down down on both weight and price. Making it pretty affordable at anywhere between 290-310 new.

The bolt is solid steel and contained within the buttstock along with the operating spring. It's single action and the magazine is held within the pistol grip.

Another interesting fact is that it uses most common double stack pistol magazines such as Glock, Beretta, Smith and Wesson, and Sig. So finding a good quality magazine is easy.

Available in 9mm and 40 S&W so it has more punch than a .22 long rifle and barely any recoil. The gun is good for plinking, small game hunting, even home protection. At ranges under fifty yards the 9mm Luger cartridge can approach .357 velocities is this carbine. Also since it uses pistol ammo it's handy when you own a handgun in the same caliber.

I could see this weapon being handy for law enforcement when an officer needs an affordable carine for ranges longer than a pistol. Plus convienent storage since it folds. It could also be used as a transition weapon when first learning to shoot.

The gun is accurate, I found it fired a bit high, no problems adjusting though. I good see myself hunting rabbit and maybe even turkey.

All in all I love this weapon. A fun affordable carbine, with easy maintenance.
