The Fusil d''Assaut de la Manufacture d''Armes de St-Etienne (FAMAS) was adopted by the French Army in 1978. The G1 is an improved version of the original F1 model. The G1 fires 30-round M16 magazines. The FAMAS can fire full auto, single shot or 3-round bursts. The FAMAS can be fitted with various sights and scopes as well as an M203 grenade launcher. The FAMAS can also be fitted with a bipod attached to the body of the gun near the barrel.
