Welcome to RnG SharkChaser,
A MP5 would be a nice addition to any collection. As Brigadier General Fred mentioned, many clones are out there. Select wisely, as quality will vary greatly. Good luck. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=97587496

The MP-5 should fall under the rifle and shotgun regulations, but I'm not sure. However, as a semi auto rifle, there would bu no more than the standard background check with the BATF. Your handgun laws are pretty complicated though... Just call your local police station and ask, you'll find out they can be very helpful.

Actually, I was unaware that there were clones to the H and K's. I was looking at the H and K but now that I know I'll look at the others before I buy. Thanks
