My name is tony and I just bought a winchester model 94 at an auction. I own two 22 rifles which I have had for 35 years and use for targets. I am interested in information about my winchester, it was produced in 1967 and is 30-30 cal. looks to have some grease in the action and a bit dirty. I am wondering if I should take it to a gunsmith to be checked out before I use it. I am also looking for a manual for this model. This rifle has no safety so the instruction manuals I find on line might not be for my model. |

I found an owners manual on ebay looks to be from the same era (1967) I founs the half cock position and it does disable the trigger . The receiver and ramp and related parts have a coating of grease on them looks to be old stuff you can see where it remains on the parts that do not touch, is this grease supposed to be there? |

that sounds like some kind of grease they may have put on it on to store the gun for a long period but i know to much grease or oil is not good because it will cause a build up of dirt and reidue i would clean that grease off and find a good lubricant you can find some at a gun dealer theyll help with any question about diffrent lubicants for your specific needs. |
