Why would you want to store a gun for a long time... If you have it, use it... I take out my babies everytime that I get a chance.. I will keep that in mind about the anti corrosion bags though.. Thanks

RIfleman 1, could these corrosion bags be used for storage underground? Just a side question. Glad that this solved your problem with corrosion. This may sound elementary, but, on checking corrion can occur quite rapidly with some of the foreign ammo that is corrosive. I for one clean my AK within hours of shooting it to prevent this problem as I do have some corrosive ammo in my stock. Of course I prefer the non-corrosive, but, on occasion I had to purchase the corrosive stuff. So, one of these ammo bags would be something good to have on hand. Thanks for the heads up!!

ive neverput my guns under ground but that would be a good experiment to see if they would hold up.i know that the ideal conditions for a gun storage is 70 degrees ferenheight and 50% humidity excuse the spelling.

I know that the question that I asked may seem odd, but, I know folks right now that are planning on watching the world situation and they do not trust our own government and they are considering finding containers that are water tight and bury their firearms underground until the threat is over. I know this sounds like an Armegaddon cenario and perhaps the thinking is, but, there are people out there right now doing this. Last week we were down at a gun shop and a person was buying a survival tube that has food, evergency medical supplies and other things that may be needed in an emergency. But, the tube was large, about 10 inches around and 6 feet in length where you could put a hunting rifle easily and other firearms. The thing cost $300. But, the question would be in my mind just like you brought up rifleman1 was the temperatures that they would go through underground. I personally am not ready to take any steps like this yet, but, I have gotten an invitation from a gun dealer who is building a place of retreat way back in the hills of Tennessee. Again, there are many people with this thinking and so, why not ask questions about things that are being brought up in this site. Thanks for your honest answer rifleman1.

Damn... I will start digging a tunnel from my house to Tijuana, just in case the S(&^ hits the fan here in CA... Best thing to do would be to get a good gun case that is waterproof...

I have several air tight PVC storage barrels that when the time comes will keep my goodies protected.
All I need to do is pack them and fire up the Bobcat.

Rifleman, what makes you think we're heading for this sort of political upheaval? If the government is trying to take our freedom, we'll need the firepower. "A well armed militia being critical to the maintenance of a free society, the peoples' right to bear and keep arms shall not be infringed." I may have a few words off there, but you get the point. Nobody is taking my guns. Period!

And they laughed at me when I wanted to install bullet proof glass and gun ports around my house. Can't imaging burying a stock pile. Even if the Government outlawed firearms in this country and tried to round them all up. I figure, I'd build an accessible within my house. Fortify!! The only thing going in the ground around here will be me, not my rifles and guns.
