Marine, The AR15 would be my choice. Depends on how deep your pockets are?

I picked this AR15A2 up at a local show a few years ago. It is a Colt Match Target with a 20" HBAR 1-7 twist barrel, hard to find Miculek type compensator and integrated 4x20 scope optical system fitted on the carry handle. About $1200 to $1300 out the door.

what do you want to do with it, i prefer the ar but in the a3 version with flat top there is more options open to you. you know like optics,cheaperthandirt.com has the 12inch four rail front end, i beleave its YHM YOU WILL SEE IT but it fits flush with upper rec. flat. arms # 40 flip up rear sight . ok stop drooling ha ha just jokin.

Fred is correct. It really depends on what your needs are. If your a collector like me the question is obvious. If you want to knock down a few Pheasants, well... Really the A3s are nice, a little more money but like Fred mentioned you can load them up with accessories.

My pockets are shallow, and I would have to save up for the AR, I plan on useing it around the house, hunting, collecting, and shooting, but the Shotgun, I can buy it now, I'll be able to buy the AR next year hopefully. I'll probably get a A3 or A4 for the sight thing. Thanks for the input.

I was going to buy a Maverick 88 $200, I know it isn't as good as a Mossberg 500 but it is close, and I'll probably just save for the AR.

Maverick aint a bad shooter, I've got one. Just put on the short barrel and pistol grip and Joe Bloggs on the street couldn't tell the difference....... Hell ! I'm not sure I could tell the difference, espec in the dark with it pointed at me (pretty sure I would be worried about the model in that situation).
Anyway aren't 88's & 500's pretty much interchangable ?

hey marine ! ..... good choice , and like i said youll have plenty of time to get shot guns later on in life but at least you can sleep well knowing you have an assualt rifle next to you ... could you immagine the ban going into effect and all you have is a mossberg 500 and a few deer rifles for the rest of your life ?? that would suck

Yes it would suck, I'll get the J&T Distributing, for now and then I was going to get a Bushy or RRA.
