Depending on the weather and my outer wear I carry either a Kimber full size (5 in. barrel) .45 acp., or a Ruger SP101 .357 mag. with a 2 1/4 in. barrel. Both guns are a little to big to carry consealed with summer shorts and a lite shirt. I have recently picked up a S&W Aitweight in .38 spl+P. It's a great little pocket gun that can be carried in the front pocket. I guess you'd call it a 2in. barrel(act. barrel lenght is 1 7/8 in.). I have never been a fan of the .38 spl, but realize even a 22 cal. is better than nothing. |

Mnt. Maniac, I don't know where you live, but, I live in Alabama and it gets very hot down here and, I carry a twin mag holderon my belt for full size 1911 magazines and a pancake holster that holds my Colt Commander Lightweight 45 ACP. I wear shorts all summer and I had to start wearing very loose fitting shirts that I wear outside. I have never had anyone confront me because they have seen my weapon. AS far as the balistic data on the ammo, I have gotten most of my info right on the hollow point ammo that I purchase. Federal, Remington usually puts in on their boxes of 20 hollow points, but, the boxes of 50 FMJ for target practice doesn't. Plus, I went into the ammo manufaturers web sites and found most of the data that I needed to pick the ammo that I wanted to carry in my carry gun. |

Thanks for you repley. I have seen the statistics on the federal boxes and checked out their web site also. But everything I've seen nas been useing a 4 in. barrel. I'm wanting to find ballistics for a 2 in. barrel. If I remember right we lose 100 fps for every inch of barrel lenght. I don't have a ceronagraph ( forgive spelling) and haven't invested in ballistic gelatin. I was wondering if there was any professional statistics. |
