In our constitution we have a right to own and bear arms, for our country.

The old saying is that they who don't learn from history are bound to repeat it. In Rome the crowds were shouting to the end. Freedom is not free!

Totally, A country of unarmed citizens quickly become dictatorships, History has proven this also.
You'll find most countries have statements with similar meanings, and America is not the first to go through gun laws tightening up and/or proposed disarmament of citizens. Most of us are going or have gone through this crap. Stay strong, stay united, keep people educated and dont give the polititions or the media fuel for "anti guns".

"The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed"

What about this statement is open to interpretation? Our Bill of Rights cannot be amended. All gun control/restrictions are unconstitutional. We, as citizens of the U.S., are our country's owners. Many people forget, or have forgotten this. It's not politicians, judges, or corporations that own this country. Take back your country by voting for candidates that respect our citizens. These are the people that understand that they are public servants. Unfortunately they are few. The only 08 presidential candidate that has displayed this respect for our constitution, and it's owners', is Ron Paul. I challenge all of you to give his platform and history a look. He would be an excellent president and leader.

You are very lucky Brad to live in a country which has such a constitution, Many are not so fortunate. Cast your mind back to some of the countries who were disarmed by their leaders...... Law abbiding people become criminals (often unwittingly) weapons go underground along with drugs and things, Unable to defend themselves & family, people become victims to starvation and violence. Gangs thinly disguised as "government troops" or "freedom fighters" take over and then then.... civvies see it on tv with you and me mopping up the mess.
Sorry guys & girls...Not meant to preach, but I like my rifles and want to keep them.

I agree brad281, however the people that want to limit limit your rights think that they are smarter than the founding fathers of the constitution. They also don't care what the Bill Of Rights says because it gets in the way of their socialist style of governing. The problem is that we let them take away the rights of others when it doesn't affect us, and don't stand for the rights of those whoes rights may be offensive to us(smokers, minorities, poeple who subscribe to another religious beliefs). If we can sit idley by and let the government make laws restricting our nieghbors behaviour then they gain power to restrict us.Stand up for all or fall with then eventually.

Absolutely agreed esqinaline. Why are we allowing them to do this? This country lacks leadership among it's citizens.

Jack135, in which country do you live? I certainly believe that I am fortunate to be a US citizen, but I also feel that 15 years from now, unless we change course now, I may not be so fortunate.

All I can say is Amen to what has already been said. The times they are a changing and right before our eyes almost everyday. We watch as Washington constantly trys to strip us of our rights as free citizens in a free society. But, you are very right brad281 in that we lack leadership among our citizens. Most of our society depends way to much on our Federal Govenment insead of on our own ingenuity and tallents. This coming election is critical because most of the professional polititions are not running to serve us, but, to serve themselves and to make themselves rich, powerful and will have a place in history. That leaves us trusting people who really don't give a hoot about us and what our needs are. Plus, those who are out to strip us of our Second Ammendment Rights only care about their own warped sense of what safety is. They will not listen to reason that an armed citizen is our best protection from those who are out to harm society and individules. I don't know about you all, but, I still get tears in my eyes when I hear the Star Spangled Banner and see our flag raised. But, those of us who get that effect are getting fewer and fewer each passing day. We have those who say that those who come into this country legally or illegally do not have to learn how to speak English, our govenment will just print up what they need in their own language. We have gotten soft and that softness will cause us to loose our freedom to those who want to destroy our beautiful country from within

We have one thing that we must do, and that is, for all who feel like we do to make our voices heard loudly and stick together and refuse to buckle under when they throw the un-Constitutional demands made toward us. Stay strong!!

Wow, a whole bottle! That would have me hugging the bowl for three days. Let me know if you guys are planning on a get together at the watering hole. I'll buy you both a round or two. I like the way you guys think.
I won't be drinking Crown though. Pour me some top shelf scotch on the rocks. Perfect for celebrating good company.

On your wedding night as well, you Australians, what are we going to do with you. If we ever get the opportunity to put our elbows on the bar, please remind me not to try to keep up with you my friend.

Gave it up years ago, as a loosing process, but the party sounds like a great time to talk about guns and shooting experiences. Hey Chaindriven I like your sayings, people need to read and heed because they are down right true.

Thanks Major,
I am not really much of a drinker to be honest. Never have liked the feeling of not being in 100% control. Besides, I am available for emergency medical calls in my community. Also, I can not carry a firearm in Minnesota with blood alcohol level above .04 which is about one or two stiff drinks for a man of my size.
I truly appreciate your comment regarding my signature sayings. I thank you sir. I hope that visitor and members alike enjoy reading them. Your are correct Bullseye, they are not false statements. Just for you here is a new one. Thanks again my friend.

Chaindriven, that last saying or should I say truth is awesome. I only wish that many of our representatives in Washington including our President should live by that statement. Unfortunatly we seem to have moderation in our persuit of justice these days, and many of our representatives have no courage to live on that extreme side to protect our freedoms.

I went out today and bought myself a new Smith & Wesson 1911PD 45. Man, this gun is beautiful, cannot hardly wait to to out and shoot it. Did I need it? Not hardly, but, I did trade in another gun to get this one. Other than being broke now, I am content.

Major, congratulations on the new acquisition. The S&W PD is a fine firearm. Was it NIB? It should function well out of the box. However, as a RSO at the local range, I have noticed that they can be a little stiff at first. Need a few rounds through them to smooth out a bit. Break in period.

I know what you mean about "Did I need it?" When I bring home a new addition to the collection, my bride says "Another one, why?" Why does a carpenter have so many tools? She looks at me and shakes her head. I am married to a wonderful woman bless her heart and a darn good shot as well.

Regarding our Washington Representatives, well they are more worried about offending the vocal minority than serving the silent majority. I am sorry, I wrote OUR Washington Representatives. Heck, they don't represent me. And don't get me started about the liberal idiot politicians here in Minnesota.

Chain is right. These people in Washington would rather serve the squeeky wheel than follow the Constitution and serve America. We are a deteriating society, and I fully expect that to continue as a result. Unless, that is, we have a true patriot step up and lead this country. Not to talk to much politics, but our current administration has done nothing but hurt the Conservative cause. They have thrown accountability to the wind.

2nd Lt Brad, thanks. You bring up a wonderful point of conversation my friend. Each president and representative recites the following oath, in accordance with Article II, Section I of the U.S. Constitution:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

I will write it again... PRESERVE, PROTECT AND DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION!

Ok, why in the HECK are some idiot politicians attempting to revise it to conform to the wishes of the left wing liberals. I contend that is not preserving, protecting or defending the Constitution of the United States and they should be impeached. Whew, I will relax now... sorry.

Chain, it's too bad that our leaders aren't held to their oathes. In my opinion our current leadership should have been impeached a long time ago. Have you taken a look at Ron Paul? I've been campaigning for him locally quite a bit. He's a pure Constitutionalist, with no private agenda. Of course that means he doesn't have money to take his campaign to the next level, but every American would be better off with a man of his integrity in the White House.
