I recently ordered a Kimber Ultra Covert II from my preferred gun dealer, and I'm having second thoughts. I recently saw another new Kimber at another dealer, and the supposedly stainless bull barrel was rusted. I had another dealer tell me that he had gotten Kimber's in with rusty barrels, and I dismissed his input because he didn't have any Kimber's I liked. I figured he was trying to sell me something else. Has anyone heard or seen this with any other Kimber's. |

All I can tell you is that I owned a Kimber compact stainless for 10 years. I carried it legally conceald in western washington state for five years and never saw a speck of rust anywhere. Last year, unfortunately,I was stopped by a san berardino county sherrif while my kimber was laying on the front seat of my truck.I was promptly aressted and my gun confesscated.$200.00 and 2 years probation later I plan on replacing that compact stainless with a Kimber covert|| without a moments hesitation. It was more accurate than I can hold and it never failed to do what it was designed to do. Hey Major,I don`t for one second, doubt, that your Kimber rusted like you say. What I wonder is, why your`s rusted, and mine did not.My Kimber spent it`s first ten years in seattle, damp, humid, and cool.It seems to me that if a kimber was going to rust, that would be the place to do it...... Tex |

Kimber's website says it's a stainless barrel. If it's not then I'm going to be pretty pissed. If there's an ounce of rust on it when it comes in, then they'll get it back. Springfield's Loaded Micro Compact is a great gun too. I'm rooting for a clean Kimber though. I really liked the Ultra Covert. |

UPDATE....I got my new Kimber a week ago. Not a speck of rust on it. Finally got to the range this afternoon. I am happy to say that this fine weapon performed absolutely flawless. Not one failure of any kind, and it was extremely accurate for a 3" barrel. Anyone who is thinking of picking one of these up, shouldn't hesitate. AWESOME!!!! |
