The XM8 will provide lethality performance comparable to the currently fielded M4 carbine rifle, while weighing 20 percent less than the M4 because of advanced technologies developed for the XM29 program. The prototype weighs 6.4 pounds, with an objective weight of 5.7 pounds. PEO claims it takes one third the time to train a Soldier on the XM8 than the current weapon system. NO GUNS, NO GLORY!!! |

Is that thr m4 replacement??? I know FN makes the F2000 and the SCAR light useing m16 mags with hopes of getting the US contract. They did this for a reason! they went so far as to move to the US with these hopes in mind. They haven't even annonuced a civilian version or the SCAR due to filling govt. contracts!! I'm not saying XM8 is not a good weapon and I don't consider easir to train a good reason!!! The US military doesn't deal with neanderthals and I dont remember anyone having a hard time learning the m16a2!! Yes I am biased when it comes to FN they have a proven record of reliability and very effective weapons!!! |

H&K makes the XM8 but the contract was dropped and there is no replacement for teh M16 family insight, while the scar is good i like the XM8 better. |
