Depends on the make, model, caliber & condition, to get an idea of fair market price you may want take it to be valued by a couple of reputable dealers.
But the true value is what you, a collector or the guy next door is willing to pay for it.

Another point Bullseye showed earlier, Be aware that unscrupulous people will try to take advantage of you or down play the worth of you firearms (and/or collectables). So check out the net 1st and dont leave it with anyone, If a appraiser cant tell you immediatly the value then take it home with you.

jack 135 is right on the mark DON'T let yourself be ripped off as your gun's much to an important thing to just leave it with someone you may not know do NOT trust your gun with anyone the damage they can do in a very short time is quite un belivable so keep an eye on your investment
