Did anyone else get the mass emailing from FrontSight about the recent shootings at Virginia Tech? And if you did, did anyone else find the mailing opportunistic and the blood spatter graphic disgusting? |

Apparently, the NRA agrees: "NRA JOINS IN DAY OF MOURNING: The National Rifle Association joins the entire country in expressing our deepest condolences to the families of Virginia Tech, and to all who have been affected by this horrible tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends who lost loved ones to this senseless act. This is a time for people to grieve, to mourn, and to heal. This is not a time for political discussions or public policy debates. Virginia Governor Tim Kaine has declared today a day of mourning; as a Virginia based organization, we respect and abide by this declaration. We will participate in this discussion at an appropriate time. In the interim, our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the victims, their families, and the entire Virginia Tech community." Thank you for this show of class NRA! Mother Nature is a stern teacher who eventually kills all of her students. |

Google Appalachian(SP) Law School shooting, what happened? Two students retrieved their firearms and stopped the shooter. Why was that never in the news? Where was MSNBC then? Where was the Brady Campaign Then? "We deal in Lead, friend." Steve Mcqueen from the Magnificent Seven. |

Please don't misunderstand my position. I absolutely agree with the right to protect one's self and others. I also absolutely agree with the probability that if armed individuals had been present in Norris Hall at Virginia Tech at the time of the shootings, Cho would have been stopped much earlier and the death toll would almost certainly have been much lower. What I objected to regarding the FrontSight mailing was the timing and the graphic. (I am not at home now and can't retreive the original e-mail, but I will post it here later.) The mailing struck me as offensively opportunistic in its timing, having been sent out on the day after the shootings. And the graphic (blood splattered on the floor) was incredibly insensitive and bordered on obscene. I felt that the NRA response was much more appropriate and showed a great deal of empathy and class. We shooters and hunters, as a group, need to be aware that a lot of folks in this country do not share our enthusiasms and viewpoints. We also need to be aware that we are a minority. Currently the majority of citizens in this country do not oppose our hobbies and endeavors. However, if we flaunt our differences and offend and outrage those non-shooting and non-hunting citizens, that tolerance and support will not continue and the entire country could lose a valuable right and privilege. Mother Nature is a stern teacher who eventually kills all of her students. |

Sorry, I can't figure out how to display the graphic. It's not on a site that I know of, just an e-mail and the copied picture won't load on this site. Mother Nature is a stern teacher who eventually kills all of her students. |
