As a man who served his country some years ago, yet never left the military even after I was discharged. I would have never imagined, in my wildest imagination what all of us are facing in todays world. It seems like with each session in Washington we are faced with losing more rights as gun owners. All it takes is a tragedy after some nut shoots a few innocent people and Washington scrambles to once again take away the rights given to us by our Second Ammendment. The lose of life is beyond tragic, but, what does that have to do with us who are law abiding citizens who own guns and would never imagine killing anyone except in self defence. But, all gun owners who are living today are faced with many threats. Washington is trying once again in HR1022 to take away the right to buy and own a semi auto weapon. Many of us have them and enjoy shooting them beyond measure.
But, our rights as citizens of America are coming to a head with this coming election. With the Democrats in power in our capital right now, a Democratic President would drive a nail in gun ownership as we know it. It seems so easy to buy a gun in some states today, but, when you buy one from a Federal Fire Arms dealer, you fill out a form, and that form could come back to bite you if the goverment ever wanted to disarm the citizens. I for one am making it a point to only buy from private party owners where the tracking is impossible. But, I see a day where that may be impossible and purchasing ammuntion a hassle. I really do not want to sound like an alarmist, but, where else would be a good place to bring a subject up like this, than to people who love to own and shoot guns.
If I am off base, please excuse me, but, if I am not, please write your thoughts down and put them on this site for all to see and rewpond to. My wife is new to guns and is just now seeing the danger that she may have in owning her beloved 9 mm Browning Hi Power.
I am so pleased that we have a place like Rifles N Guns to through this out.
Many of my non-gun owning friends think I am some kind of a nut and said that what I am saying could never happen. But, I leave the subject up to gun owners to see if I am off base.

Gun rights spokesmen are aware of these attempts to weaken our defenses. I am a stalwart supporter of 2nd Amendment right. I believe gun control may have faded as a political issue, but with the mentality of Washington and that certain constitutional rights are anachronisms—is alive and well. Look for gun control advocates to bide their time and look for new ways to resurrect the issue after the 2008 election.
